A common problem with vintage Star Wars Landspeeders is that the seat breaks out - either from someone stepping on it, or from someone trying to force it out. When this happens, there are two little tabs on the bottom of the seat that break off, leaving the seat to float out of position, or simply fall out.
This listing is for replacement seat tabs only - no landspeeder or seat. You will receive two replacement tabs for the bottom of the seat, a left and a right.
This tab repair kit essentially replaces the original tabs on the bottom of the seat. You will receive two: one for each side.
I combine shipping on items. Order multiple of this item, and it will automatically combine. Request an invoice when purchasing different items to get the combined total.
You can see a video of the installation here:
To Install:
1: Make sure the there is no overhang (front to back) left from the original tab - wire cutters can be used to snip off any excess overhang. (Most of the time the tabs break completely off, and this step can be skipped)
2: Slide the replacement tabs under the side overhanging plastic, ensuring they stay straight up and down. They should fit snuggly, but slide in easy.
All done!
We do recommend disassembling your landspeeder first by removing the screws from the bottom, and separating the top and bottom. There are pegs holding the side engines together, so carefully pull these two sections apart (they are not glued). Disassembly is not required, but does make it easier, especially if the tabs should get knocked out of place.
Troubleshooting:
While we've installed these on dozens of landspeeders, different factory molds and other conditions may require you to make some minor modifications.
If the replacement tab is too tight, you may have to sand or file down a bit of the replacement tab that slides under the overhang.
If the replaced tab won't connect to the tab on the body, you may have to trim excess flashing off the tab on the body.
If the replacement tab will not stay in position (too loose), it may be necessary to glue it in place - superglue formulated for plastic, a plastic epoxy, or even a small dot of hot glue would be enough to lock it in place.

About Galactic Collector: I am a collector of vintage Star Wars action figures, vehicles, and playsets. I regularly restore vintage pieces. I never part out complete items. I often buy broken/damaged/parts lots for salvage, and will resell leftover parts from those to hopefully benefit other restorers out there.
