Ragnar Lodbrok Legendary Viking King Denmark Sweden 12" 1/6 Scale Figure

This is a custom 1/6 scale 12" figure commemorating one of the most colorful and legendary rulers in history, Ragnar Lodbrok. Ragnar Lodbrok was a legendary Viking hero who was the son of Sigurd Ring the king of Sweden. Ragnar would eventually become King of Sweden and Denmark. According to Frankish accounts Ragnar Lodbrok made a name for himself leading Viking raids on France and England in the 9th century. Ragnar had been granted land by Charles the Bald but would eventually lose the land and fall out of favor with the King. Ragnar and his men raided Rouen as they headed up the Seine in 845. Charles sent an army to intercept Ragnar's Vikings to prevent the destruction of the Abbey of Saint-Denis (near Paris). Charles split his army in two, one group on each side of the river. Ragnar's forces defeated one group capturing over 100 men. Ragnar hung the men on an island in the Seine as a tribute to the Norse god Odin, as well as to strike fear in the remaining Frankish forces. This figure was designed mainly for display for the history fan and not play.
