Original Tom Hanks Saving Private Ryan Gi Joe 12" - Rare - Action Figure

OK, if you’re looking at this listing, you must already be a fan and are probably aware of the well-known story. Back in 1997, when the release of Steven Spielberg‘s saving Private Ryan movie was about to be released, G.I. Joe has been in production of a famous Tom Hanks action figure based off of his character captain Miller from the movie saving Private Ryan. G.I. Joe went to the extent of producing this figure and prepping production for distribution. However, Steven Spielberg felt it was wrong to try to commercialize World War II, specifically D-Day, and event that was absolutely wrought with horror and bloodshed. He thought by making action figures out of such a horrible event, but it would marginalize the seriousness of war. Thus, the G.I. Joe Figure with the Tom Hanks head sculpt was canceled forever. A small amount of these figures snuck out to collectors.
I bought my Tom Hanks saving Private Ryan Figure from the collectors market about 15 years ago, where it did not include the original box. I included more accurate realistic World War II 12 inch figure clothes, but kept the figure in the original condition and put it on display in my air-conditioned, non-smoker, non-pet owned home. I am a history teacher and have nothing but reverence for World War II, but I am now getting older and have to part with things like this unbelievably hard to find Tom Hanks, Captain Miller Figure from saving Private Ryan.
